Overview

Cortagen is a synthetic tetrapeptide bioregulator (Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro; AEDP) developed by the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, belonging to the Khavinson peptide series, and associated in research with peripheral-nerve regeneration and connective-tissue models. Molecular formula C17H26N4O9; molecular weight 430.41 g/mol. Supplied in encapsulated form for laboratory research use only; not for human or veterinary use.

When a peripheral nerve is severed, the question that defines its fate is whether — and how well — it regenerates. It was in exactly that setting that the tetrapeptide Cortagen (AEDP) first drew research attention. A synthetic peptide bioregulator of the cytogen class, Cortagen is associated in the literature with peripheral nerve and connective tissue, and its evidence base is older, narrow and firmly preclinical.

A cytogen peptide from nerve-regeneration research. Cortagen's defining studies came from experimental sciatic-nerve injury models, where the tetrapeptide was examined for effects on regeneration of the injured nerve (Turchaninova et al., 2000) and for a delayed restoration of injured nerve function (Kolosova et al., 2002). Parallel work probed its molecular reach more broadly — for example, profiling Cortagen's influence on gene expression in the mouse heart by microarray (Anisimov et al., 2004). These are mechanism- and model-oriented findings, not validated outcomes.

What the research explores. Across cell-culture and animal systems, Cortagen has been investigated along several converging lines:

  • Peripheral-nerve regeneration models — studied for effects on regeneration and delayed functional restoration of injured sciatic nerve (Turchaninova et al., 2000; Kolosova et al., 2002).
  • Gene-expression & tissue-specific signalling — examined for tissue-specific peptide effects and for gene-expression changes in cardiac tissue (Khavinson, 2001; Anisimov et al., 2004).
  • Antioxidant & immune-signalling assays — explored for effects on free-radical processes and on cytokine/IL-2 gene expression in immune-cell models (Kozina, 2007; Kazakova et al., 2005).

The activity described here is drawn from in-vitro and animal studies; it characterises biological behaviour in experimental models and does not establish efficacy or safety in humans. Full citations are listed under the Scientific References tab.

FAQ

Cortagen (AEDP) is a synthetic four-amino-acid peptide of the cytogen bioregulator class, associated in research with peripheral nerve and connective tissue and studied for regenerative and gene-expression endpoints in experimental models. Its literature is older and predominantly preclinical. Condor Research supplies it strictly as a Research Use Only reference compound for in vitro and animal studies, not as a medicine, supplement or product for human or veterinary use.

Cortagen (AEDP) is a four-residue tetrapeptide associated in research with peripheral nerve and connective-tissue regeneration, while Pinealon (EDR) is a three-residue tripeptide examined for central neuroprotection and antioxidant defence. They share the cytogen class but are studied for different tissue-specific research questions. Both are supplied only as research-use-only reference compounds.

Cortagen (AEDP) is associated in research with peripheral nerve and connective tissue, whereas Vesugen (KED) is associated with the vascular wall. Each is investigated for tissue-selective gene-expression endpoints in experimental models rather than a single shared effect, and both rest on narrow preclinical literatures. Each is offered exclusively for laboratory research use, not for human or veterinary use.

Both are short Khavinson-lineage peptides, but they diverge in focus: Cortagen (AEDP) is studied for peripheral-nerve regeneration and tissue-specific gene expression, while Epitalon (AEDG) is studied for telomerase activity and pineal/ageing endpoints. They differ in sequence and research direction and answer distinct experimental questions. Both are supplied solely as Research Use Only reference compounds.

Yes. Condor Research supplies Cortagen strictly as a Research Use Only reference compound to professionals and institutions, not as a medicine, supplement or product for human or veterinary use. Buyers are responsible for confirming import legality in their own country. Questions: info@condorresearch.com.

Cortagen is an experimental peptide with a narrow, predominantly older preclinical literature centred on animal nerve-injury and gene-expression models (Turchaninova et al., 2000; Anisimov et al., 2004). Its reported effects are mechanism-oriented findings in experimental systems and have not been established in humans. We describe it honestly as a research probe, supplied for laboratory research use only and not for human or veterinary use.

The capsule is a pre-weighed, encapsulated solid format that makes a fixed quantity of reference compound convenient to store, inventory and handle in the laboratory. Each HPMC (vegan) capsule holds an accurately measured amount of material with no reconstitution required. The format is a research handling convenience and does not imply or permit any form of consumption. For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

Each bottle contains 60 HPMC (vegan) capsules, with 10mg of Cortagen per capsule at ≥99% HPLC purity. Every batch is independently third-party tested. The per-capsule quantity is the mass of reference compound for laboratory measurement only and is not a dose for human or veterinary use.

Cortagen has the molecular formula C17H26N4O9 and a molecular weight of 430.41 g/mol, with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro (4 aa). A verified CAS number is not assigned for this compound, so none is listed. It presents as a white lyophilized powder that is soluble in water, and these specifications are provided for research characterisation purposes only.

Yes. Every Cortagen batch is tested by an independent third-party laboratory by HPLC for identity and purity (≥99%), and each lot ships with a lot-specific Certificate of Analysis. To request the COA for your batch, contact info@condorresearch.com. The COA documents analytical quality for research use only.

Store at -20°C, protected from light and moisture, to preserve compound integrity across the stated 24-month shelf life from the manufacture date. The product is EU warehoused to support stability in transit. It is supplied for laboratory research use only and is not for human or veterinary use, ingestion, or diagnostic application.

Impeccable packaging

Cold-chain handling was respected end to end. Vials arrived sealed, labelled and intact. Documentation is the most thorough I've seen from an EU supplier.

Reproducible across batches

Third order with Condor. Batch-to-batch variation is minimal, which matters for our longitudinal work. The mono-labelled vials are easy to track.
